ENMU Announces JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main and Family Weekend Activities

Portales, NM – August 27, 2025 – Eastern New Mexico University announced today the activities for its third-annual JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main on September 12, and the annual JP Stone Community Bank Family Weekend happening September 12-13.

"We are excited to welcome back the families of our students for a weekend of fun," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "This is also a great opportunity to show the Portales friendliness and hospitality we are known for as we welcome campus and community to Rally on Main."

The JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main event happens on Friday, Sept. 12, from 5-10 p.m. at the Roosevelt County Electric Company Plaza on Main Street. ENMU, in conjunction with the City of Portales, will host live music on the plaza, welcoming the campus and community to a night of family fun.

Live music will run from 5-10 p.m., with the Resonan Zia, featuring a mix of Tex-Mex music, starting at 5 p.m. After a community-wide pep rally at 7 p.m. featuring the ENMU Greyhound Sound and the Portales High School Marching Band, local Tejano group Grupo Rosa Blanca will take the stage.

Events at JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main include a family fun area featuring inflatables, food trucks, the Southwest Dairy Mobile Dairy Classroom, and much more.

JP Stone Community Bank Family Weekend kicks off Friday night, Sept. 12, as ENMU families can enjoy dinner with the ENMU President at The Well on Main Street at 5 p.m., and then enjoy the rest of their night at the JP Stone Community Bank Rally on Main.

Saturday, Sept. 13, starts bright and early with a mix-and-mingle breakfast with campus leaders at the Courthouse Café. ENMU Health and Wellness will also sponsor a walk to support mental health on the same morning. Family members can then head to Uncle Mike's on Avenue C for lunch featuring pizza and live music.

An afternoon and evening of fun continues with the Family Weekend tailgate, which starts at 3:30 p.m. in the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium parking lot. After the tailgate, family members will receive admission to the football game against Angelo State at 6 p.m.

During the game, ENMU will announce the JP Stone Community Bank Family Weekend scholarship winners, awarding $1,750 in scholarships for the spring 2026 semester.
