Portales, NM - October 9, 2024 – Eastern New Mexico University announced that on Oct. 19, 2024, ENMU will officially rededicate the newly named Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium.

ENMU will welcome back former players from the Jack Scott and Don Carthel era, as well as those who were teammates of Steve Loy under Coach Scott, to a weekend full of activities celebrating the rededication of the ENMU football stadium.

"This is a special time and a special occasion for the Loy Family and the reunion of so many people that have supported ENMU for the past 50 years when we first enrolled in the university," said Steve Loy. "Our family is full of gratitude and appreciation for all the ENMU community and the ENMU athletic programs that have filled our lives with so many things for which we are thankful."

On Friday, Oct. 18, ENMU will host their second annual Rally on Main, sponsored by JP Stone Community Bank. This campus and community-wide event will culminate with a community pep rally at 7 p.m., which will feature the stadium's namesake, Steve Loy, speaking at the rally.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, ENMU will gather former teammates and players of Steve Loy, Coach Jack Scott, and Coach Don Carthel to a morning tailgate party before the ribbon-cutting ceremony at Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium at 11 a.m.
The Greyhound Football team will kick off against archrival West Texas A&M at noon. During halftime, ENMU will recognize Steve Loy and his wife, Linda Bell Loy, on the field.

After the game at 6 p.m., ENMU will be hosting a banquet reunion dinner at the Campus Union Building. This banquet will feature the ENMU Chancellor, the stadium namesake and former Greyhound Football Captain Steve Loy, and many other former Greyhound football players.

"This is a weekend themed around the celebration of family," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "I cannot think of a more appropriate time to celebrate and thank Coach Loy and his family for their generosity. ENMU will benefit from his support for generations to come. It will be a great weekend to recognize one of our own, Coach Steve Loy."
