Portales, NM – September 27, 2024 – The Eastern New Mexico University Department of Music is excited to announce that its annual Green and Silver Classic Marching Band competition will return to the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024.

Featuring high school marching bands from across West Texas and New Mexico, the competition allows bands to be judged by nationally recognized music educators who will provide formative commentary in the areas of music performance, marching performance, general effect, and percussion performance.

"Please join us for a fun-filled afternoon of marching band entertainment," said Dustin Seifert, director of Bands for ENMU. "This event is always a wonderful celebration of youth; young people collaborating to create something together they could not create alone."

This year's special guest adjudicators include Dr. Jon Sweet, director of Athletic Bands at Washington State University; Dr. BJ Brooks, the director of the Sound of West Texas Buffalo Marching Band; Eric Rath, the director of bands at Canyon High School, and Dr. Peter Grubisich, the assistant professor of percussion at Eastern New Mexico University.

The event features educational opportunities for each high school participating, including a 15-minute Director Huddle with adjudicators immediately following the performance, a 15-minute Drumline/Front Ensemble Clinic with the percussion adjudicator, and ENMU providing each band with a complementary HD performance video.
