Portales, NM – August 26, 2026 – Eastern New Mexico University was recognized nationally and statewide in the Niche.com 2026 Best College Rankings released this week. Nationally, ENMU is ranked in the top 20 percent of universities in nine different categories. For the state of New Mexico, ENMU is ranked either first or second in six different categories.

The highest national ranking for the University in the 2026 Niche.com rankings was recognition as the 14th best online college in America. The highest New Mexico rankings for ENMU include being recognized as the best online college and the best college for education degrees.

"We are thrilled to once again be recognized for the great campus and educational experience we deliver here at Eastern New Mexico University," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "These rankings are the result of an outstanding faculty and staff. Through the efforts of everyone involved, we deliver an outstanding education, whether it be in person or online."

#39 of 406 Best Hispanic Serving Institutions in America

#49 of 776 Best Colleges with No Application Fee in America

#63 of 706 Best Colleges for Criminal Justice in America

#80 of 1,010 Best Small Colleges in America

#111 of 963 Best Colleges for Education Degrees in America

#119 of 699 Top Public Universities in America

#176 of 1,369 Best College Dorms in America

#264 of 1,613 Best Colleges in America
