Music, Beer, Wine and Peanut Festival Featuring Honky-Tonk Legend Mark Chesnutt.

Portales, NM — July 25, 2025 — Eastern New Mexico University, the Roosevelt County Chamber of Commerce, and Roosevelt County are proud to announce the new One Portales – Music, Beer, Wine and Peanut Festival, brought to you by J.P. Stone Community Bank, and featuring honky-tonk legend Mark Chesnutt, Saturday, Oct. 18 at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds.

The all-day music, beer, wine and peanut festival will bring together the University, the chamber, the county, the city, and the surrounding area to complement the annual Peanut Valley Festival at the Roosevelt County Fairgrounds the same day.

"ENMU, Roosevelt County, JP Stone Community Bank and of course the Roosvelt County Chamber, this is the way we get things done in a big way in a small town, all working together to make it happen for our community," said Quaylene Parkey the Executive Director of the Roosvelt County Chamber. "We are so excited to be partnering with all of these great organizations to bring this event to Portales!"

Gates open at noon, with beer and wine being sold by Portales' own Enchantment Vineyards, and local food trucks on site to serve the best local flavor. Starting at 1 p.m., Portales' local act Phil and the Phil Goods will take the stage. Following at 3 p.m. will be regional act Thomas Hinds. At 5 p.m., the main opener, the Karson City Rebels Band, will take the stage.

At 7 p.m., one of country music's true musical treasures, Mark Chesnutt, will take the stage. With hits like "Bubba Shot the Jukebox," "Too Cold at Home," "Brother Jukebox" and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing," three-time platinum-selling Mark Chesnutt is considered one of the most successful voices of the '90s country music scene.

In 1989, he signed a record deal with MCA Nashville and was notching chart-toppers within one year. By the decade's end, he earned 14 No. 1 hits and 23 Top 10 songs, sold more than 12 million albums, and was a CMA Horizon Award Winner. He won a second CMA Award (Vocal Event of the Year) in 1993 for his participation on the legendary George Jones' "I Don't Need Your Rockin' Chair."  Billboard named him one of the most-played country artists of the decade.

Chesnutt is known for his neo-traditionalist country and honky-tonk influences, with frequent stylistic comparisons to George Jones. He has recorded several cover songs as both singles and album cuts, including covers of Hank Williams Jr., John Anderson, Don Gibson, Conway Twitty, and Charlie Rich.

"As a part of ENMU's commitment to being a strong community partner, we are thrilled to be a part of this event," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "We look forward to a day of fun and topping it off with great music."
