Carlos Murguia, director of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship at New Mexico State University, recently graduated from the prestigious Center Leader Academy Certification program, a significant achievement that reinforces the Hunt Center's mission to elevate the entrepreneurial landscape within the region, and supports its vision of attaining national and international recognition.

Over the past two decades, entrepreneurship centers have experienced significant growth worldwide. However, development opportunities for center leaders and staff have not kept pace with this expansion. Recognizing the need for enhanced training and support, the Global Consortium of Entrepreneurship Centers partnered with the Center Leader Academy to provide comprehensive training that legitimizes and advances the role of entrepreneurship center leadership.

Developed and led by an international team of experienced entrepreneurship center directors, the CLA Center Leader Certification program offers participants best-in-class knowledge and practical skills needed to manage, expand and innovate within entrepreneurship centers. The program spans more than 30 contact hours and covers leadership strategies, ecosystem activation, programming development and resource management. By completing this certification, Murguia brings valuable insights and world-class practices to the Hunt Center.

"This achievement will help me better guide the Hunt Center at all levels regionally, nationally and internationally," said Carlos Murguia, director of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship at NMSU. "Completing this program allows us to integrate advanced practices into our work, enriching our programs and enhancing the value we offer to students, entrepreneurs and stakeholders across the Borderplex region."

The Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship fosters the regional entrepreneurship ecosystem by empowering diverse communities to explore and practice entrepreneurship, educating and motivating students to bring innovative products and services to market, and expanding access to early-stage investment. The advanced training and insights gained from the CLA Certification will further amplify the center's ability to deliver on this mission, creating impactful programs and professional development opportunities that support long-term growth and sustainability.

"Carlos's completion of the Center Leader Academy Certification is a testament to his commitment to excellence and the continuous growth of the Hunt Center for Entrepreneurship," said Dana Catron, interim director and CEO of Arrowhead Center. "This achievement not only strengthens our collective mission at Arrowhead to advance innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives, but also enhances our ability to serve as a leader in fostering talent and supporting economic development in the Borderplex region. We are proud to see Carlos bring these world-class insights to our center, further positioning us for national and international recognition."

The certification amplifies the Hunt Center's capacity to disseminate acquired knowledge through workshops and training sessions, enhancing skills and introducing new learning opportunities for regional partners and stakeholders. These efforts ensure that the Center continues to champion innovation, empower entrepreneurs, and contribute to economic development both locally and beyond.
