Portales, NM – August 6, 2024 – Eastern New Mexico University has announced move-in day for students living on campus during the 2024-2025 academic year. ENMU has also planned several activities that will take place during the annual Welcome Weekend, titled ENMU Dawg Days, to welcome students back to campus.
"Dawg Days are here again! I love this time of year when students move in, and the campus truly comes to life," said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. "This is a wonderful tradition where ENMU faculty, staff, and student leaders turn out to move in the new Greyhounds and welcome them to the family. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone back on campus and we are ready!"
Portales, NM – August 5, 2024 – Eastern New Mexico University was awarded a $490,000 AGRI competitive grant by the United States Department of Agriculture.
The grant, awarded to Dr. Kalynn Baldock, assistant professor of agriculture and department chair, with a sub-award to New Mexico State University's Dr. William Norris, focuses on agricultural science teachers' industry-aligned education and development.
"I am excited for this opportunity to work with agricultural educators throughout New Mexico," said Kalynn Baldock, assistant professor of agriculture at ENMU. "This grant will allow us to partner with businesses in various agricultural industries to enable these educators to gain skills they can incorporate into their classrooms."
The New Mexico State University Police Department will conduct a multi-agency critical incident response training and crisis management exercise on Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Branson Library on campus.
To avoid any confusion during the exercise, NMSU is notifying the public and campus community ahead of time. The exercise is closed to the general public.
The training exercise will focus on emergency response to a critical incident on campus and is being staged by NMSU Police in collaboration with other area first responders/law enforcement agencies. It will involve a simulation of the NMSU Police response plan and will help assure a coordinated, timely and effective response and recovery in the event of a major incident.

It's important to know the ropes of an effective and timely supply chain, and students in the College of Business can get hands-on experience in this area through the Center for Supply Chain Entrepreneurship program.
The program, initiated in 2021, aims to connect local, national and international businesses to College of Business faculty and students. The objective is to drive, create and enhance supply chain entrepreneurial activity in the areas of supply chain management, artificial intelligence and business analytics solutions.
New Mexico State University sits approximately 40 miles from the United States border, one crossing point located in El Paso, Texas, where migrants travel from around the world after extensive journeys in pursuit of a new life. NMSU students and students all around the country have the opportunity to conduct firsthand research on immigration policy and understand migrant experiences with the National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates program.
As a student-athlete at New Mexico State University, Molly Kaiser believes success doesn't happen only on the court – it also happens inside the classroom. Her hard work, countless hours of dedication and perseverance have led her to recognition as the 2023-2024 Conference USA Scholar Athlete of the Year, representing NM State Women's Basketball.
The award recognizes the top student-athletes in each conference-sponsored sport based on their academic achievements, athletic performance, and community involvement. Kaiser is pursuing a master of business administration with a concentration in finance and business computer information systems, and is working toward a May 2025 graduation.
Portales, NM – July 29, 2024 –The Steve Loy Family Foundation announced today the new names for the ENMU football stadium and basketball arena.
The Steve Loy Family Foundation has chosen to rename the on-campus football stadium and basketball arena after their family foundation. ENMU's football stadium will be renamed the Steve Loy Family Foundation Stadium. ENMU's basketball arena will officially be renamed the Steve Loy Family Foundation Arena.
New Mexico State University Regents professor Cynthia Bejarano was among 32 faculty and staff that the United States Department of Agriculture welcomed to Washington, D. C. earlier this month in the 2024 class of E. Kika De la Garza Fellows. The group was selected from Hispanic Serving Institutions and Hispanic Serving School Districts across the country.
"The USDA offers numerous opportunities for NMSU students, particularly in the form of internships and potential employment after graduation. There also are an array of federal resources available to help rural communities in New Mexico," said Bejarano, who is also the principal investigator of NMSU's College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP). "I am enthusiastic about community partnership opportunities that are now in the works with the USDA, thanks to this week-long fellowship. I'm humbled and grateful for the opportunity, and the information that I am bringing back to NMSU and southern New Mexico."
