March is Women's History Month—a time to honor the courageous, visionary, and trailblazing women who shaped the culture and communities of New Mexico. As Chairwoman of the Republican Party of New Mexico, I am proud to celebrate the diverse contributions of women who helped build our state into the land of strength, tradition, and resilience that it is today.

From the earliest days of our state's history, women have been at the forefront—leading families, preserving culture, protecting land, and fighting for justice. Through the New Mexico Historic Women Marker Initiative, we are reminded of the rich legacy of women such as Lozen, the fierce Apache warrior and spiritual leader; Nina Otero-Warren, an advocate for women's suffrage and education reform; Fabiola Cabeza de Baca, a teacher, home economist, and author who preserved Hispanic heritage through traditional foods and stories; and Georgia O'Keeffe, whose art brought the landscapes of New Mexico to the world stage.

These women—and many more—are testaments to the enduring values of faith, family, freedom, and perseverance. They remind us that New Mexico's identity is rooted in a powerful blend of cultures, and that women have always played a leading role in shaping our state's destiny.

This Women's History Month, we honor these legacies not only by remembering the past, but by empowering the next generation of New Mexican women to lead, to serve, and to thrive. Let us continue to uplift the stories and contributions of women who have helped create the New Mexico we know and love.
