Santa Fe, NM — Today, the Republican Party of New Mexico Headquarters in Albuquerque was targeted via an arson attack. Thankfully reports indicate no one was injured as a result of this politically motivated violence. In response, the Senate Republican Leadership team have issued the following joint statement:
"We condemn all acts of political violence and domestic terrorism. The targeted firebombing of our Republican Party Headquarters is disgraceful and those responsible must be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our political and legislative process must be engaged through civil discourse and respectful debate. Actions such as these further divide New Mexicans and seek to completely undermine the very foundations of how we govern ourselves. In the wake of a prominent Democrat official calling for her supporters to be 'agitators,' it appears some unhinged supporters took the message to heart and acted out in a violent manner. Democrats must turn down the rhetoric and restore civility to our political process."
