SANTA FE — Today the New Mexico Senate unanimously confirmed Manny Barreras as the cabinet secretary for the Department of Information Technology (DoIT).

"Technology is the backbone of efficient government service—Cabinet Secretary Barreras understands this," said Gov. Lujan Grisham. "His expertise and vision for modernizing our technology systems will help improve how New Mexicans interact with state government."

He is a dedicated public servant who also brings with him decades of private sector experience in critical technology-related fields such as public safety communications and network security," said Sen. Michael Padilla. "I was honored to sponsor his appointment in the Senate and thank Governor Lujan Grisham for selecting him to lead the Department of Information Technology."

I am also dedicated to continuing the expansion of the NM Digital Trunked Radio System (DTRS) throughout the state to enhance and improve coverage and interoperability for all first responders in the state."

Manny Barreras is a dedicated public servant with a deep-rooted commitment to the State of New Mexico. With over 26 years of experience in sales, business development, and government relations—22 of those years focused on technical sales and public sector solutions—he brings an unparalleled depth of knowledge and expertise to this role.

Barreras holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from New Mexico State University.

Prior to his appointment as secretary, Barreras served as Senior Territory Account Manager in New Mexico, El Paso, TX, and Arizona for one of the largest public safety radio suppliers in the country.
