SANTA FE – Applications for Capital Outlay funding through the Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) is now open for fiscal year 2026.

This program aims to support senior centers across the state by providing financial assistance for infrastructure and development projects to enhance the quality of life for older New Mexicans.

"Senior centers are the heart of many communities, serving as vital hubs for connection and support," said Tasha Martinez, ALTSD Capital Outlay Bureau Chief. "Capital Outlay funding can ensure these centers can deliver the programs and resources necessary to support seniors' well-being and active engagement in their communities for years to come."

The deadline for submission of applications is April 8, 2025.

All senior centers throughout New Mexico, including local and Native American tribal governments are eligible for Capital Outlay funding. Applications will be evaluated based on their potential impact, alignment with state and agency priorities, feasibility of completion and operational sustainability.

Funding provided through the Capital Outlay program supports a wide range of initiatives including, but not limited to:

Planning and design for new senior centers.
New senior center construction.
Renovation and code compliance improvements to meet health and safety standards.
Vehicle purchases and equipment for senior center transportation and meal delivery.
Equipment to support senior center programming such as fitness classes congregate meal preparation.

Some recent Capital Outlay projects through ALTSD have included an upgrade to the parking lot at the City of Las Vegas Senior Center, a new addition to the Mary Esther Gonzales Senior Center in Santa Fe, and the groundbreaking of the Gallup Senior Center.
