The trend continued today in New Mexico as the Sierra County Commission adopted a resolution calling upon the New Mexico Legislature to petition for a convention of the states under Article V of the US Constitution. Sierra County became the sixth to adopt such a resolution, joining Hidalgo, Colfax, Otero, Catron, and Roosevelt.
A number of counties are considering similar actions to urge the New Mexico Legislature to call for a national convention to address (1) fiscal restraint, (2) federal overreach, and (3) term limits, all of which congress refuses to address.
19 of the necessary 34 state legislatures have so far joined the call for an amendments convention, and several more are in play.
