OchoaArthurARTHUR "TUDY" MARRUFO OCHOA, 76, lifelong resident of Deming passed away Thursday September 12, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be Friday evening, September 20, 2024 from 5 to 7 at Baca's Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be Saturday morning at 10 at Citi-Life Church with Pastor Cesar Chavez officiating. Concluding services and interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.

Art was born February 11, 1948 in Deming to Robert G. and Alice M. Ochoa. He graduated from Deming High School in 1966. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1967 and completed his service in 1975. He married Aurora "Dora" Ochoa in 1969. During this time he furthered his education at Western New Mexico University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1970. He received his Master's of Arts from New Mexico Highland University in 1976. Art returned to Deming in 1971 and taught Industrial Arts and Drafting in the Deming Public Schools for 25 years retiring in 1996. Art was known for his humor and discipline impacting our Deming youth during his teaching career. During that time he also received his contractor's license and started his construction company known as Circle T Construction.

He completed many projects in the Tri-County area including Dona Ana County. His first renovation project was the Wheeler Mortuary in 1975 which later became Baca's Funeral Chapels. His last project was the renovation of Terrazas Funeral Chapels of Deming. He was a former member of the Jaycees, a civic engagement and development group that fosters the growth of future leaders. While in college Art discovered his passion for photography, and woodworking in which he became very skilled at. Art was a well known photographer and photographed many weddings and events. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family.

OchoaArthur2He is survived by his wife Dora Ochoa of Deming; son Joel Ochoa of Deming; daughters, Dionne Ochoa Carrasco (Ruy) of Austin, TX and Cynthia Ochoa (Andy Parra) of Deming; grandchildren Miquela Ochoa Jurado, Sofia Carrasco, Esteban Carrasco, and Molly Parra; brothers, Robert M. Ochoa (Mary) of Deming, Hector M. Ochoa (Martha) of Albuquerque, NM, and Michael M. Ochoa (Tina) of Deming; many brothers and sister-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Ochoa, In-Laws Carlos and Aurora Ochoa, Brother-In-Laws Gume Ochoa, Carlos Ochoa Jr., Gabriel Ochoa, Sister-In-Law Alice Ochoa, Niece Lynette Ochoa.

Pallbearers will be Andy Parra, Ruy Carrasco, Esteban Carrasco, Bob Bills, Mike G. Ochoa and GumeOchoa Jr.
