Catalina "Katie" Lopez Castillo Kincheloe, 88, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 30, 1937 in Gila, NM to Mariano Lopez and Sally Chavez.
Katie raised her family in Pico Rivera, CA. She worked in housekeeping at the Presbyterian hospital in Whittier, CA. In 1980, Katie moved back to Silver City. She worked at WNMU for years as a custodian. She served as a door greeter at Calvary Chapel for 18 years. She was part of the ministry for 15 years at the Silver City Care Center.
Katie loved the Lord and shared Jesus to everyone. If you needed prayer, she would pray for you. Thank you Mom, for being the best mom ever! We love you and will miss you greatly. Soar with the eagles. Psalms 91.
She is survived by her three sons, Richard Castillo and wife Michelle of Montebello, CA; Tony Castillo and wife Carole of Silver City; Tommy Castillo of Silver City; two daughters, Janet Castillo of Silver City; Patricia Gutierrez and husband Rudy of Pico Rivera, CA; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mariano Lopez of Silver City; Fernando Chavez of Pico Rivera, CA; three sisters, Virginia Marin and companion Teddy Martinez of Silver City; Rose Gutierrez and husband Jim of Pico Rivera, CA; Toni Vasquez and husband Sammy of Murrieta, CA; Samantha Cooper and husband Greg of CA; numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Jim Kincheloe; three brothers, Eloy Lopez, Manuel Lopez and David Chavez; one sister, Stella Lucero; sister in-law, Lily Lopez.
A Memorial Service will be celebrated at a later date.
