SaylorGeorgeGeorge Hipple Saylor, 88, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Sunday, April 6, 2025 at Mt. View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM.  He was born May 27, 1936 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania.

He attended college in Thatcher, AZ and received his Bachelor's Degree at Western New Mexico University.  George and Nancy Jane Wermeyer were life long friends before they married in 1978.  Living as man and wife for 47 years.  He substitute taught at Silver Consolidated Schools for many years, worked and retired from Phelps Dodge Corporation.  He and Nancy owned and operated Mud Puddle Ceramics shop for many years where he poured green ware, and Nancy painted Chile ristras and a variety of bells and other ceramic items and sold them throughout New Mexico and Arizona. 

They traveled all 50 states as well as many countries such as Europe, England, France, Germany, Switzerland and Belgium to name a few.

They were members of Saint Andrews Lutheran Church for many years.  He was a member of the Masons and Shriners; where he held offices and was very active in both organizations raising money for children in need.  He volunteered at local food banks for many years.  The day after George passed, a gentleman from the Masons brought him his 50-year award.  He would've been very proud to have received this award.  He volunteered at local food banks for many years.  He was known in the community as the "Pumpkin Man".  Every year he sold trailer loads of pumpkins to families, children, and local schools for pumpkin carving every Halloween season.  Last but not least, he was an avid Steelers fan.  He will be missed.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy of the family home; two nieces, Lynette Doyle of Florida; Susan Pixley of Virginia; close family friend, April Teague of Silver City; their dog, Wiggles.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Gertrude Casey.
