Isabel O Madrid, "Charlie" or "Chale" as everyone would call him. Passed away peacefully on June 24 in his home surrounded by his loving family and his beloved wife who never left his side. He was born in Central, New Mexico on August 31, 1949 to Andres and Aurora (Ortega) Madrid the seventh of twelve children. In 1957 his family moved to Lordsburg, New Mexico then to Safford, AZ in 1968. On June 18, 1969 Charlie was drafted to the US Army and also served in Vietnam. After his service he returned home to Little Hollywood Safford, AZ. He always loved Lordsburg so he moved back in 1972 and that's where he met his lifelong beloved partner the love of his life Consuelo and they married on March 8, 1974. And had 6 beautiful children of whom two entered eternal life at young ages. Charlie became a police officer in 1975 and protected the city of Lordsburg and all of Hidalgo County up until his retirement in 1994. Charlie was highly respected by the community and loved by all. Â He was the true meaning of a family man and loved all his grandkids as if they were his own children. Charlie was one of a kind and always loved to tease and joke around you had to have tough skin if you wanted to enjoy a day with him. He enjoyed many of his days fishing and hunting. He impacted all of our hearts and showed us all how to be strong just like him. Dad although you left a hole in all our hearts thank you for loving us unconditionally, we will take care of mom and each other from here. You're pain free singing all your Antonio Aguilar songs while you're fishing in Heaven, we love you God bless you and will see you again someday.
He is survived by his loving wife, Consuelo (Villalpando) Madrid; his son, Charles Daniel Madrid (Leah) of Las Cruces, NM; his three daughters, Felicia Araiza (Paul) of Safford, AZ, Veronica Madrid (Michael Haynes) of Lordsburg, NM, Priscilla Mireles (Juan) of McAllen, TX; his four brothers, Joe Ortega of El Paso, TX, Henry Ortega (Rita) of Mesa, AZ, Andy Madrid (Susie) of Azle, TX, Alex Madrid (Margie) of Safford, AZ; his three sisters, Nellie Arredondo (Joe) of Albuquerque, NM, Margie Salcido (Jesse) of Tucson, AZ, Sylvia Ortiz (Gerardo) of Tucson, AZ; his fourteen grandchildren, Daniel, Noah, Jeremy, Serenity, Esaias, Anthony, Brittany, Isabella, Phillip, Keanna, Michael, Azaryah, David and Heaven; his two great-grandchildren, Tobias Daniel Madrid and LeiLani Skye Finley;  his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Anthony Joe Madrid; his daughter Rosanna Marie Madrid; his brother, Fred Madrid; his sisters, Consuelo Lechuga, Lydia Martin, Rachel Borseth; his sister-in-law, Sherry Ortega; and his grandson, Charles Daniel Madrid, Jr.
Visitations will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at 10:00am-10:30am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Funeral Service commencing at 10:30am, with Alex Madrid officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at the Shakespeare Cemetery in Lordsburg, at 1:00pm, where he will receive Full Military Honors. Pallbearers are Daniel Madrid, Noah Madrid, Jeremy Madrid, Anthony Finley, Phillip Finley, Michael Haynes, Keanna Haynes. Honorary Pallbearers are Serenity, Esaias, Brittany, Isabella, Azaryah, David , Heaven, Tobias and LeiLani.
