MontesJeanieWith Heavy Hearts and profound Love that we say goodbye to our loving – Jeanie "Snookie" Montes of Silver City, NM, who passed away, November 29, 2024 at the age of 82. Born in Encino, NM, on February 10, 1942. Jeanie was the daughter of Pete and Lola Garcia.

Jeanie "Snookie" was well known through the community and church. She taught at the Silver High School for over 30 years. She loved her family and friends, always welcomed them with a home cooked meal.
In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, fishing, getting her nails and hair done, eating out with her friends and traveling. She will be missed by many and always cherished in our hearts.

She is survived by her husband, Francisco "Frank" Melendrez Montes; her son, Joseph Montes of Silver City, NM; her nine Grand-children, Pamela Duda, Julie Anne Cohn (Shawn), Kristina Sykes (Brandan), Michaela Simpson, Michael Simpson, Christian Padilla, Xavier Padilla, Adrianna Fernandez, Joey Padilla; her six Great-Grandchildren; her numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter in law, Veronica Montes; her daughter Diana Montes; her brothers, Peter Garcia Jr. and Danny Garcia; her sister, Julie Ann Garcia.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at 5:30pm to 6:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Prayer Vigil and Holy Rosary commencing at 6:00pm, with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024 at 9:30am at St. Francis Newman Center (Silver City) with Father Ephraim Ezulike officiating. Pallbearers are Joey Padilla, Preston Cohn, Michael Simpson, Xavier Padilla, Shawn Cohn and Brandan Sykes.
