GutierrezJoe Joe Garcia Gutierrez Jr., 68, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, TX. Joe was born August 8, 1956 to his parents, Joe Fletcher and Mary Lou (Garcia) Gutierrez in Silver City, NM.

Our Joe was larger than life and was loved by many. His life centered around his wife, children, grandchildren, and cats. He was an excellent Registered Nurse and his patients and their families adored him. He may have continued to work but he suffered many painful accidents whilst riding his beloved Harley Davidson. Those accidents made it to where he could ride nor work any longer. One thing he never lost was his faith, so much so that when he was nearing the end of his life he called out and reached for the Lord. Now he is riding free in God's graces.

He is survived by his loving wife, Merlinda (Padilla) Gutierrez; his mother, Mary Lou; his daughters, Arlene Gutierrez (Chetman Spurgeon) of Hurley, NM and Leanne Gutierrez Woods (Junior) of Hurley, NM; his brothers, Gilbert Gutierrez (Catalina) of Hurley, NM and Deacon Art Gutierrez (Rosemary) of Hurley, NM; his four grandchildren, Noah and Jeremy Spurgeon and Jessemine and Jacob Woods; his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joe; his In-Laws, Leo and Mary Padilla; his brothers-in-law, Ruben and Barney Padilla.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024 from 5:00pm-6:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels in Santa Clara, NM with the Holy Rosary commencing at 6:00pm with Deacon Art Gutierrez reciting. The Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 9:30am at Infant Jesus Shrine in Hurley, NM with Father Casmir Anozie officiating. Inurnment will take place at Hurley Cemetery at 4:30pm. Pallbearers are Noah Spurgeon, Jeremy Spurgeon, Jacob Woods, Arthur John Gutierrez, Javier Gutierrez, Gabriel Bustillos and Jose Rubio. Honorary Pallbearers are Jessemine Woods, Gilbert Gutierrez, Deacon Art Gutierrez, Polo Padilla, Anthony Padilla, Bernice Padilla, John Gutierrez, Johnny Woods and Jaime Serrano.
