MorganLeonard Leonard "Wayne" Morgan, 78, a resident of Silver City, NM entered eternal rest Monday, September 2, 2024 at Fort Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara. He was born on September 15, 1945 to his parents Wilburn Hillery and China Mary (McNew) Morgan in Portales, NM.

Wayne was a master pipefitter and TIG welder. Early in his career he worked for Phelps Dodge and the Chino mines, but he later chose contract work where he enjoyed variety and unique challenges, allowing him to showcase his talent and creativity. Many of us have his beautiful artwork in our homes. When he wasn't working, Wayne loved to spend time outdoors, particularly on hunting trips with friends and family. He was an exceptional marksman and had a strong background in scouting, which he cherished as a hobby.

He is survived by his loving wife, Maea (Schaffer) Morgan; his two sons, Lennie Morgan (Laurie) of Phoenix, AZ and Audie Morgan of Arenas Valley, NM; his daughter, Amber Smith (Chris) of Palo Alto, CA; his brothers, Pat Martin (Varsi) of Las Cruces, NM and Tony Martin (Karen) of Tucson, AZ; his sisters, Mary Martin (Kenneth) of Tucson, AZ, Lucy Mancuso of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Bettina McCaa of Nederland, TX; his nine grandchildren, Joshua (Erica), Katarina Perguson, Brendan, Melina Morgan, Jaxsen, Whitley, Harrisen Smith, Christopher and Allee Morgan; his four great-grandchildren, McKenzie Morgan, Jaryn Morgan, Thea Morgan, and Violet Perguson; his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Bennie Morgan; his sister Josie Martin; and his grandchild, Leonard Wayne Morgan III; his daughter-in-law, Nancy(Pavlakovich); his grandson-in-law, Cole Perguson.

The family will be holding a chapel service at 11:00am on Saturday, May 24, 2025 at the First United Methodist Church. A Celebration of Life will follow shortly after at the Glenwood Community Center at 2:00pm.
