CandelariaBeatrize Maria Beatriz Candelaria, 95, a resident of Bayard, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, October 31, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 22, 1929 in Fierro, NM to Ysidro and Josefa B. Hernandez.

Beatriz was a wonderful and amazing mom, awesome grandma, great grandma, cool aunt and a loving mother-in-law and dedicated wife. Her favorite daily pastimes were cooking and making tortillas. She especially enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to make tortillas. On her honorary side, she was the one-armed bandit that enjoyed gambling. She had a sense of humor and said funny little jokes which of course made us smile and or laugh. She will be missed dearly.

She is survived by six sons, Enrique "Henry" Candelaria (Lillian) of Rio Rancho, NM; Johnny Candelaria of Bayard; Bobby Candelaria of Bayard; Antonio Candelaria (Sylvia) of Bayard; Ricardo Candelaria of Arenas Valley; Jesus Candelaria (Barbara) of Santa Clara; one daughter, Betty Herrera (Ray) of Bayard; 17 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; one brother, Pete Hernandez of Las Cruces; two sisters, Mary Soliz of Fullerton, CA; Dora Tovar; two brothers in-law, Gilbert Sanchez and Tony Eres; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jesus Candelaria; one brother, Tomas Duran; four sisters, Juana Trujillo, Rosa Trujillo, Lupe Sanchez, and Socorro Eres; four brothers in-law, Ramon Soliz, Daniel Tovar, Elizar Trujillo, and Leo Trujillo.

Visitation will be Monday, November 4th from 5-6pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. The holy rosary will commence at 6pm with Dr. Gilbert Arizaga reciting. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 5th at 10am at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Father Martin Okonkwo officiating. Concluding services, interment will take place at St. Vincent Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers are Abel Herrera, Benjamin Candelaria, Jeremiah Aragon, Josiah Peru, Nathanial Udero, and Javier Herrera. Honorary pallbearers are Jason Herrera, Ray Herrera, Ray Herrera, Fernando Martinez, Aiden Herrera, Pete Hernandez, Geovanni Martinez.
