Marian Serna, 79, a resident of Silver City, NM passed away quietly in her home on Sunday morning, May 19, 2024 surrounded by all her loving family. She was born to her parents Simon Bustamante and Helen (Juarez) Salas on July 14, 1944.
Marian was born and raised in Los Alamitos, CA, the eldest of four daughters. She met, fell in love with and married Ernie Serna there. They started their first home together and began to raise a family. Later, they moved their family from Cerritos, CA and built their home in Silver City, NM. Marian and Ernie enjoyed a wonderful life together in New Mexico. Marian was an adoring, loving wife and mother who spoke with such pride and joy about all of her "boys". She was always a nurturing and guiding part of her sons' lives. She was known by family and friends to be a gifted hair stylist, having graduated from Marinello School of Beauty. In high school she excelled in Culinary Arts and sometimes like to practice her assignments at home for her father. She was an amazing cook and baker, making delicious treats for family and friends during the Holidays. It was her Love Language. Marian was a strong woman of faith who always had a positive outlook, no matter the circumstance.
She had a laugh that was so musical and contagious it could light up the room around her. She had a kind and generous heart toward everyone she met and a love of music and dancing that she shared with her husband and family. Marian left a mark on this world that will not soon be forgotten and she will be greatly missed by all.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Ernie; their four sons Ernest Serna Jr. (Trish), Martin Serna (Marie Q.) and Jaime Serna (Lisa) of Silver City, NM, and Jeremy Serna (Jacqueline) of Sierra Vista, AZ; her three sisters Olivia Salas, Susan Vega and Sandra Salas of Long Beach, CA; 11 grandchildren; her 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Braden Kindle.Â
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 from 5:30 to 6:00 pm followed by the Holy Rosary at 6:00 pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Deacon Bill Holguin reciting. The Funeral Mass will be on Friday, May 31, 2024 at 10 am at St Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Silver City, NM with Fr. Oliver Obele officiating. Pallbearers are Ethan Serna, Andrew Serna, Zachary Serna, Zane Serna, Luke Serna and Dainian Flores.
