LopezPazPaz C. Lopez, 90, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Saturday, April 26, 2025 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  He was born January 7, 1935 in Santa Rita, NM to Francisco Lopez and Jesusita Cabello. 

Paz C. Lopez was a man of many hats. A loving, kind, dedicated, and hard-worker always putting the needs of others before his own.  He was born in "Space" (Santa Rita) and moved to Hurley, New Mexico in 1968 where he made a home with his beautiful and loving wife Rose and their four children. He's known for his compassion, giving spirit and kindness. He was a man of faith and love. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.   He worked for the Kennecott Copper Mine for more than 30 years and served as the treasurer of the local union 890 for many years. He attended Western New Mexico University for a brief period of time. A man of many talents, an avid hunter, fisherman and overall outdoorsman, and although he was a master of many things, he is most proud of and known for being the patriarch of his family.  A quiet, stoic lead and provider, he was married 66 years to the only love of his life, Rose. He was a loving, kind and supportive father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, Nino and uncle, and there was never any doubt he loved you, and you knew by the way he always supported you. A wonderful man who will be deeply missed by those who know and love him. 

He leaves behind his loving wife, Rosario "Rose" M. Lopez of the family home; two sons, Alejandro "Alex" M. Lopez and wife Suzanne Gonzales of San Diego, CA; Javier Enrique Lopez and wife Dreama of Silver City; two daughters, Carla Flores of Hurley; Rebecca Gonzales and husband Eric of San Diego, CA;  eight grandchildren, Suzette Abbasciano, Jerome Lopez, Desiree Villines and husband BJ, Kaytie Marquez and husband Richard, Aaron Holguin, Marcus Flores, Michael and Joaquin Gonzales; six great grandchildren, Isaiah and Leilani Marquez, Brooklyn Villines, Aaron Holguin Jr., Dominic Holguin and Zoe Lopez; one great-great-grandson, Emilio Giovanni Holguin; one sister, Clara Horcasitas of Albuquerque, NM; numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Tranquilino Lopez, Jose Reyes Lopez, Juan Lopez, Remejio Lopez, and Jesus Lopez; two sisters, Lorenza Morales, and Concepcion Rosales.

The holy rosary will be recited by Belen Montoya on Friday, May 2nd at 10am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels.   The Celebration of Life service will follow at 10:30am with Pastor Clyde Woods officiating.
