Petra "Peggy" Quintanar Gomez, 88, a lifelong resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest, Tuesday, October 29, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 9, 1936 to her parents Lazaro and Gertrude (Hernandez) Quintanar in Silver City, NM.

Peggy was a cherished mother, grandmother, auntie, and friend. She pursued her passion as a beautician after graduating from Western High School in 1955. Peggy met Ramon, a barber who went on to be the love of her life and husband of 59 years. Together they created a loving home for their three children and became godparents to 36 godchildren. As a devoted homemaker and caregiver, she was an outstanding cook who loved organizing family fish fry picnics and making flour tortillas with her grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening and collecting blue willow china. She was a devout Catholic, a Guadalupana and Cursillista. Peggy was revered by many and will be missed dearly.

She is survived by her sons, Ray Gomez (Marlisa) of Albuquerque, NM and Mark Gomez (Catherine) of Silver City, NM; her daughter, Carla Bustillos (Andrew) of Tijeras, NM; her nine grandchildren, Monica, Lorenzo, Christina (Jason Solberg), Mark Jr., Anna, Adriana, Andrew Jr., Alesandra and Ashley; her two great-grandchildren, Teneal and Noelle; her numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ramon Gomez; her brothers, Albert Quintanar, Alfred Quintanar, Neto Quintanar, Mayo Quintanar; her sisters, Veronica Arias and Amelia Sandoval.

Visitations will be held on Friday, November 8, 2024 at 5:00pm-6:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with the Holy Rosary and Prayer Vigil commencing at 6:00pm, recited by Deacon Bill Holguin. The Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, November 9, 2024 at 9:00am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Father Oliver Obele officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved, Ramon at St. Vincent Catholic Cemetery following the service. Pallbearers are Mark Gomez, Ray Gomez, Andrew Bustillos, Lorenzo Gomez, Mark Gomez Jr. and Andrew Bustillos Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Robert Quintanar, Rick Chavez, Marty Sandoval and Xavier Gonzales.
