Robert Anthony Montoya, 32, a resident of Hurley, NM entered eternal rest Thursday, October 17, 2024 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City, NM. He was born October 18, 1991 to his parents Robert Barragan and Patricia Montoya in Silver City, NM.

As a child, Robert was a sports fanatic, playing baseball, football, karate and boxing. His number 1 hobbies were listening to music and playing his guitar. He had a passion of drawing and he enjoyed playing his video games with his primo, "Pinch_ Larry." He worked doing landscaping, he loved the outdoors, and loved fishing, camping and hanging out with friends. Robert was always putting things together and always had a project going. Robert definitely lit up a room with his amazing smile and contagious laugh. And when people met him…they loved him and his gentle spirit. He was always making jokes and making people laugh… he would also jump up to help and assist anyone in need. Robert was truly a God-fearing and forgiving man, choosing to constantly study his bible and scriptures over his phone rather than being on social media. He gave his life to Christ and was baptized at the Bayard Baptist Church on June 23, 2024 with Pastor Sykes and was a man of God. He was planning on furthering his education to better himself and to show his baby girl, Adela, how important school is in life, but now he will forever be her guardian angel.

He is survived by his father, Robert Barragan of Las Cruces, NM; his mother, Patricia Montoya (Rudy Peña) of Hurley, NM; his daughter, Adela Hood of Hurley, NM; his wife, Paula Roacha Montoya and her three children; his brother "Bro" Michael Wood of Las Cruces, NM; his Auntie Vivian Flores (Fred); his uncle Lawrence Montoya; his Aunt Lorrie Hernandez; his two nieces, Jessicah and Arianna; his nephew Isaiah; his loving cousins; his Nino Lou Peru; his Nina Brenda Barragan; his uncle Freddy Barragan, that he loved so much. He was preceded in death by Grandpa, Lawrence Roy "Poyson" Montoya; his Grandma, Gloria Montoya; his special cousins, Ray Martinez "Miguel", Joshua Hernandez, and Jessica "Moms" Wood.

Visitations will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 from 5:00pm-6:00pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels in Santa Clara. The evening service will commence at 6:00pm, with Pastor Scott Beard reciting. The Funeral Service will be on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 10:00am with Pastor Scott Beard officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at the Hurley Cemetery. Pallbearers are Isaac Muniz, Isaiah Muniz, Larry Montoya, Cesar Rodriguez, Irene Montoya, Louie Martinez. Honorary Pallbearers are Fred Flores, Ross Lucero, Lalo Zazueta, Adrianna Montoya, Darlene Muniz, Leroy Gonzalez.

Robert will truly be missed by all who knew him and all the precious memories he left us all.
