Sally Garcia, 84, a lifelong resident of Hurley, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, grace, and unwavering love. Born on November 7th, 1941, in Hurley, New Mexico, to Eugenia and Anselmo Garcia, Sally grew up surrounded by family, tradition, and the small-town values that shaped her gentle and giving spirit.
A devoted homemaker, Sally poured her heart into creating a home that welcomed all who entered and wouldn't let you leave without her blessing. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and cherished—whether through a comforting phone call, a chat over a cup of coffee, or quiet moments spent together sitting on the porch on B Street. She adored being outside, taking in the New Mexico sun, and finding peace in life's simple beauties. Sally loved her family above all else. Her grandkids were her world, but she also had a deep affection for her three beloved dogs—Precious, Allie, and Petey—who were constant sources of companionship, joy, and comfort.
She is survived by her grandson, Allen Duran, and his wife, Lexi; her granddaughter, Emma (Yvette) Duran; five great-grandchildren: Derek, Zaidyn, Zaileen, Allen Jr., and Adelynne Duran; her son, Michael Duran (Susan); and her son-in-law, Dennis Vega. She is also survived by her sister, Cecilia Puentes; and her brothers, Meme Garcia, Henry Garcia (Dolores), and Eddie Garcia (Susie). Numerous nieces and nephews, and two godsons. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Dolores "Dodi" Vega; her parents, Eugenia and Anselmo Garcia; her sister, Martha Lopez; and her three brothers, Gilbert Garcia, Lencho Garcia, and Ernie Garcia.
Her faith and devotion carried her throughout her life, and her family takes comfort in knowing she is now reunited in heaven with her daughter and loved ones who passed before her. Sally will be remembered for her kindness, her warmth, and the immense love she shared with all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, yet her memory will continue to bless the lives of those she leaves behind.
