Sam (Samuel) B. Flores, 71, entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Singing Arrow, a Dementia and Assisted Living Facility, with his loving wife by his side in Albuquerque, NM. Sam was born on December 23, 1952 in Santa Rita, NM to Edward & Josie Flores.
Sam graduated from Cobre High School, attended WNMU where he received his Bachelor's in History and Psychology, and later in his 50's went back to WNMU to receive his Master's in Education. Sam worked over 30 years at the copper mine in Hurley, NM. First, starting at the crusher and then working his way to the Power Plant where he retired from Freeport McMoran as a Power Plant Supervisor. He went on to teach elementary 2nd through 6th grades for the Bloomfield School District for the next five years. He loved his job and enjoyed passing on his knowledge to his students. In return, the students loved Sam's energy and his way of teaching history and life lessons.
Sam's last 10 years were spent battling dementia. In June 2024 Sam was transferred to Singing Arrow for dementia where his wife was able to join him under an Assisted Living situation to help be with and care for Sam until his passing on September 28, 2024.
Sam was a kind, gentle soul who wore his heart on his sleeve. He helped family, friends, co-workers, and students however he could. He will be unbelievably missed but always-always be loved and remembered. He loved to tell jokes, laugh, and have a good time. As his wife said, "He was a beautiful-kind-generous husband, soul mate, and best friend and will be missed until we are brought back together again. Until then I will carry you in my heart and soul, forever."
Sam is survived by his loving wife, Linda Flores; one brother Ed (Barbara) Flores, 4 sisters-Diane (Montie) Diaz Flores, Lucy (Narciso) Cardona, Lilly Polanco, Patty (Marcelino) Sanchez; 2 brothers-in-law, David (Gabby) Sanchez and Sammy (Sylvia) Sanchez; and numerous nephews and nieces.
