SANTA FE, NM – New Mexico House Republican leaders are calling on Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham to convene an immediate special session to repeal the state personal income tax and provide permanent tax relief to New Mexicans.

The request comes after the Governor proposed a one-time $250 taxpayer rebate. In a letter to the Governor, House Republican leaders argue that with record state revenues and billions of dollars in reserves and trust funds, New Mexico has an opportunity to provide meaningful, long-term tax relief.

"New Mexicans do not need another temporary rebate. They need lasting relief," said House Republican Leader Gail Armstrong. "Eliminating the personal income tax would put more than $2 billion a year back into the pockets of New Mexicans and allow working families to keep more of what they earn."

The FBI and Clovis Police Department are asking for the public's help to identify a man who robbed the US Bank located at 2501 Prince Street in Clovis NM, on Thursday, July 2, 2026, at approximately 2:35pm. 

Suspect description:

African American Male

Approximately 6' tall

Wearing a white hooded sweater, camouflage facemask, white and black bandana, and sunglasses

The subject fled on foot

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of these suspects. 

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to contact the FBI at (505) 889-1300.

In all construction zones, motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, as well as continuing to be cautious of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area. (Washington, D.C., July 2, 2026) – Today, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Small Business Administration (SBA) to combat weaponized regulatory and enforcement actions against America's producers, ranchers, and small businesses. This partnership advances Pillar 4 of the Farmer and Rancher Freedom Framework by building a government-wide shield against lawfare.

Secretary Rollins was joined by SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Special Envoy for American Landowners John Rich, Director of the Bureau of Land Management Stevan Pearce, Representative Harriet Hageman, Representative Eli Crane, and affected producers and ranchers, along with representatives from leading legal organizations including the America First Policy Institute, Institute for Justice, Texas Public Policy Foundation, Pacific Legal Foundation, American Stewards of Liberty, and Mountain States Legal Foundation.

Santa Fe, NM — Today, the members of the New Mexico Senate Republican Caucus voted to elect Senator Crystal Brantley (R-Elephant Butte) to serve as Caucus Chair, replacing Senator David Gallegos (R-Eunice) who just became the Republican nominee to serve as New Mexico's next Lieutenant Governor.

By stepping down as caucus chair, Senator Gallegos will be better able to balance his legislative duties with the demands of his statewide campaign. The caucus appreciates Sen. Gallegos's contributions while serving as Caucus Chair and is pleased he will continue serving the people of Senate District 41.
