The 19th annual Cross Point Holiday Bazaar took place Friday and Saturday, Nov. 8 and 9, 2024
The event always fills the Cross Point community room with a huge variety of jewelry, various art works of wood and other materials and paints, lots of fabric items, as well as crocheted items, and beautiful homemade pies and goodies. Visitors and vendors could also buy food for lunch.

On Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024, several events took place celebrating Dia de los Metros, a Mexican tradition to honor family members who have died. The date is All Soul's Day in religious traditions, and the Mexican culture enhanced it with various traditions that include ofrendas, with photos and memories of honored ones , the use of marigolds and papel picado for decorations. This photo show is of the Silver City Museum events, which included Baile Encanto, other performers, and food, as well as arts and crafts vendors.
If you were inconvenienced on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024 and wondered about the long waits or why you were detoured way out of the way, unofficial sources have told the Beat that:
Yesterday (Thursday, Nov. 7) there was a fatal car vs semi accident in Grant County. I-10 mile marker 47.
At mile marker 48 was a second 3-semi accident with one fatality, possibly 2.
Both were near the exit to Hachita.
Bayard, NM - On Friday, November 1, 2024, the New Mexico State Police Investigations Bureau was requested by the Bayard Police Department to investigate a homicide in Bayard, NM.
Investigations Bureau agents learned that on Friday, November 1, 2024, at about 2:00 p.m., the Grant County Sheriff's Office received a report of shots fired on US-180 near milepost 119. Deputies spoke with the victim in that shooting, a 54-year-old female, who told deputies she was driving her vehicle when her boyfriend, Anthony Aveles (61), shot her. After the shooting, Aveles, who was driving in a separate vehicle, fled the scene. Deputies notified surrounding agencies and began searching for Aveles. The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Note: All results are pending until the certification by the County Commission. Some races, such as state senator state representative and district attorney cover other counties in addition to Grant County. Hidalgo and Catron counties have not yet reported. Luna county has partially reported, but total numbers will not be known until later tonight.
Numbers will change by Nov. 6, 2024, and some races may change. Stay tuned. We'll try to get final numbers in the morning.
