CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ON THURSDAY... .Warm and dry high pressure will transition to deep southwest flow on Wednesday ahead of an approaching Pacific storm system that will move across the region on Thursday. Gusty southwest winds of 30 to 40 mph sustained with gusts of 50 to 60 mph, combined with critically low minimum relative humidity values will lead to critical fire weather conditions late Thursday morning into the evening timeframe.

The first thing District 1 Commissioner and Chair Chris Ponce said at the beginning of the March 26, 2024 special meeting was: "I really appreciate all the staff involved in this meeting for coming in today. I know the rest of the staff is on a two-hour delay [Editor's Note: A delay because it snowed.]. I thank you for that, as well as the public."
With no public input, the commissioners went into executive session to discuss with the attorney on the phone the collective bargaining contract.

The Tour of the Gila celebrates its 37th edition with five days of competitive cycling in and around the mining town of Silver City, starting on Wednesday, April 24, and running through the traditional Gila Monster finale on Sunday, April 28, 2024.Â

The Silver City Consolidated Schools held a special meeting, on April 9, 2024. Members in attendance Ashley Montenegro, Michelle Diaz (phone), Patrick Cohn, Mike McMillan, and Kimberly Klement. Superintendent William Hawkins also attended.
The board convened a special meeting to accept or reject the RFPs (request for proposal) on athletic uniforms for Silver Consolidated Schools.

World War II prisoner of war PFC Richard G. Pitsor, who died after the Bataan Death March, is scheduled to arrive at the El Paso Airport April 24 at 11:44 a.m. Patriot Guard and American Legion Riders expect to be providing a motorcycle escort to Silver City when Baca's Funeral Home provides transport that afternoon. Transport is expected to leave the airport between 1:00 and 1:30 p.m.
