Our founding fathers made the decision to declare independence from England because of the tyrannical actions of the King of England. Had King George given the colonies an active voice in their governance, the United States would not exist today. But the King's love of power and money along with his demands that the people live in a manner that he chose pushed his subjects over the edge. Many Americans opine that we are headed towards tyranny in America. I'm telling you we are already there.

Maine's unelected Secretary of State, Shenna Bellows, made the decision to remove Donald Trump from the state's ballot. In what is a very rare nod to the oath that she took to uphold the United States Constitution, Bellows said she must remove Donald Trump from the ballot based upon his acts of insurrection and the 14th Amendment to the Constitution. Bellows held an administrative hearing after receiving a complaint from a bipartisan group of state legislators. Make no doubt, this was a kangaroo court.

Bellows did not follow the rules for an administrative hearing that, in some ways are similar to a court of law, requiring evidence to be presented and an opposition voice to provide a rebuttal. She reviewed evidence, such as YouTube videos that would not be admitted in any administrative hearing or court of law. Yet she claimed she took her responsibility very seriously and did not reach the conclusion lightly. In her opinion, Donald Trump had engaged in acts of insurrection for several months by claiming the 2020 election was fraudulent. Never mind that Donald Trump has yet to even be charged with insurrection, much less convicted.

Just like the Colorado court decision which reached a similar conclusion regarding Trump, Secretary Bellows paused her decision pending the outcome of an appeal to a court of competent jurisdiction. Both the Colorado judges and Ms. Bellows know their actions are not legal. They also know that they are applying the laws unevenly. Hillary Clinton and dozens of Democrat politicians along with their friends in the media made the exact same statements about the 2016 election. Yet nobody ever mentioned insurrection at that time.

This is just another step in the process of destroying our form of government. This movement has picked up speed over the last 15 years because we have allowed them to get away with things that are violations of our rights. Donald Trump or anyone else has a right to say they believed the election was rigged. But tyrannical governments will not allow their political opponents to say the same thing that their political friends have said.

We have already seen our free speech rights infringed by defining things we say as hate speech. We have watched the government shut down our country based not only upon lies and bad science but claiming it was for the common good. They do not have a right to take the actions they did but having indoctrinated so many people into believing they have that right, they're able to take power not given to them by the people. Anyone that disagrees with their actions or the basis thereof are labeled as quacks or spreaders of misinformation that don't believe in science. Never mind that the very people infringing upon our rights held the same opinion previously.

There is no doubt in my mind that the political class, led primarily by the Democrat National Party is ready to use the same methods at the voting booth that they used in 2020 to ensure they win the election. Rigged elections are another characteristic of tyrannies. Just ask Saddam Hussien, Fidel Castro, Vladimir Putin, and many other Marxist leaders that regularly won 100% of the 'vote' despite the presence of people that opposed them.

But we do have a chance. We must inform and educate our fellow citizens, opening their eyes to what is happening. Then we must turn out on Election Day in numbers that are greater than we have ever seen. We must overwhelm their ability to cheat, both because we turned out in such numbers that they cannot fabricate enough ballots to overcome our vote but also because we participate as poll watchers. When we see irregularities we must not be silenced nor must we allow ourselves to be removed. While a significant percentage of our population likes what is happening because they dislike the person to whom it is being done, we have to remind them that someone could do the same thing to them in the future. In fact it could be the very same people they are now supporting.
