The Mimbres Valley Farmers Market will open its 2025 season on Saturday, July 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mimbres Marketplace at 2743 Hwy 35 in Mimbres. Look for early fresh produce, preserved foods, veggie starts, medicinal, culinary and landscaping plants, sourdough bread, goat milk products, fabric art, photographs, greeting cards and free seeds at the Seed Library.
This year the farmers market will accept EBT cards and will participate in the Double Up Bucks Food Program where SNAP recipients can get double the amount of fruits and vegetables for their dollars.
The celebration will include live music by Chill Monroe, with his own blend of rhythm, blues and country. Look for the guitars he will have for sale at the mercado!
The menu will be smoked brisket and sides. Meet friends and family for a meal or a snack in the shady outdoor eating area, after shopping. Check out horseshoes for a game or two.
The Mimbres Mercado, a swap meet-style market, with $10 spaces, will also be open from 8 a.m. to noon inside and outside the large hangar in the rear of the property. The mercado will be a season extension market for growers and food producers and other entrepreneurs providing income year-round. Vendors can call Valerie at 520-678-8577 or email
At the Mercado look for hot coffee, baked goods and breakfast pies including bacon and blue cheese and a vegetarian version with spinach, green chile and jack cheese.
A New to You Sale will take place in half of the large hangar to help fund the mercado. Volunteers have spent countless hours levelling and tamping down the mercado marketspace, cutting and pruning trees and landscaping the property.
The Farmers Market and the Mercado's New to You Sale are co-sponsored by the Mimbres Valley Health Action League and the Mimbres Food & Ag Co-op. Help promote local agriculture and entrepreneurship in the Mimbres Valley by shopping at the Mimbres Marketplace.
