The skies above Whitewater Mesa will be filled with colorful kites of all shapes and sizes as the annual Fun Kite Flying Picnic returns on Saturday April 4th.
This family-friendly annual event attracts almost 200 people to the vast mesa off Highway 180 north of Glenwood.
Sanctioned by the American Kitefliers Association, kite enthusiasts come from all over to show off their spectacular creations.
It's not just for pros -- everyone from toddlers to senior citizens send their kites skyward. Others just enjoy the colorful spectacle of the kites diving and weaving in the wind.

Rev. Carole Czujko will explore how we grapple with the persistence of evil over the millennia; along with leaning into all the good that continues to unfold.
Rev. Carole Czujko is a retired Unitarian minister. For over 20 years she worked mostly in the tech sector. In midlife she changed direction to study the world's faith traditions and mythologies in seminary. She has served as a hospital chaplain and congregational clergy.
Rev. Czujko is a lifelong social justice activist who loves music, loves to paint, and to write.
All ages are welcome to attend the Sunday program.
