Bart Roselli brings expertise in management, educational programs, exhibition and collections development, fundraising, community building and other aspects of museum work, serving as the Director of the Silver City Museum since 2018.  He began his career more than 30 years ago in a recreated 19th Century village museum in his hometown of Middletown located in the Hudson Valley of New York State.  He studied museum education and management at Bank Street College of Education in New York City and at the Getty Institute of Museum Management in Berkeley, California.  He has applied his trade in museums of history, art, natural history, science and even a zoo. He has served on state, regional, and national museum associations and on boards of other community non-profits and business associations. 

In honor of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Wonders on Wheels Mobile Museum, a division of the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs, is traveling a new exhibit, "The Arts of Democracy in New Mexico" beginning this spring.

The all-ages exhibit on the Wonders on Wheels (WoW) RV, highlights ideals of freedom and self-government embedded in the Declaration and traces the development of those same ideals in New Mexico, showing how they have been expressed in art forms such as textiles, print media, political cartoons, protest buttons, and zines.

Photo by Val Weston.Silver City, NM — Local playwright Brenda McFarlane will premiere her new one-woman comedy Dog Gone this April at the historic El Sol Theatre in downtown Silver City.

Performed by Silver City actor Hallie Harris, the 60-minute play follows Alice, a woman who heads north after a fight and keeps driving until somewhere in the Arizona desert she loses her dog. What begins as a search for the missing animal turns into an unexpected journey involving animal control, desert encounters, and a woman forced to confront the gap between the life she has and the life she longs for.

Hallie Harris is an actor, writer and teacher who has been teaching improv and theater to students of all ages since 2013. She performs with several local groups including Silver City Theatre, Silver City Improv and Virus. She was most recently seen onstage in Silver City in DitchSpeare, which she also directs, and in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike, directed by Brenda McFarlane. Harris has studied improv and acting at institutions including Jet City, The PIT, Washington Improv Theater, Second City, The Groundlings and the American Conservatory Theater Studio.

Written by McFarlane and produced by Far Fetched Productions in association with Silver City Theatre, Dog Gone blends humor and storytelling in an intimate one-actor format designed to create an engaging and accessible theatre experience.

The friendship between Marty Eberhardt and Ann Hedlund, two Silver City-based authors, goes way back. "We've been friends since we both attended Prescott College in Arizona during the early seventies," Marty said. On March 21, they will be reading from two very different books at Avalon Books and Music in downtown Silver City.

Bex Marshall has emerged as one of Britain's fiercest blues voices, both vocally and on guitar. She began her musical journey at just 11, when she received a 1963 Gibson Hummingbird from her uncle. That pivotal gift launched her into an odyssey of classical, flamenco, ragtime, country-pickinʼ, rock and homegrown blues, ultimately forging her signature hybrid style of slide, ragtime, blues-rock and soulful roots playing. Marshallʼs voice channels heartache with raw, piercing emotion, a "melting pot of old black womanʼs heartache and rock diva soul.ˮ Her guitar is not just accompaniment; it tells its own stories. For British Blues Award winner and guitar virtuoso Bex Marshall, music has always been a passport. In 2013 Bex was asked by "Big Brother and the Holding Companyʼs Sam Andrewsˮ to be the 'Voice of Janis' on his last tour of the UK. And then there's her songs.
