Portales, NM – May 7, 2024 – Eastern New Mexico University welcomes graduates and their families to Greyhound Arena on the Eastern New Mexico University campus on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m. to celebrate their academic achievements as part of the one hundred forty-sixth commencement ceremony. Steve Loy, ENMU alumnus and the president of Sportfive Americas, will give the commencement address.

Loy is among America's most respected sports agents and former collegiate golf coaches.  Loy, the former head golf coach at Arizona State University, was a three-time national coach of the year, coached three NCAA National Championship Teams, and his 1990 Arizona State University Men’s and Women’s teams were the only teams to win National Championships together in the same year. The dual-team win is the only time this has been accomplished in NCAA history.

When Loy moved into his management career, he owned and operated multiple golf properties throughout Arizona and is an avid investor in several businesses. He has coached or managed over 40 All-Americans, eight Ryder Cup players, seven national champions, four US Amateur champions, and two number-one professional golfers worldwide, including Hall of Famers Phil Mickelson and Davis Love.

755 students are expected to graduate from ENMU, with 434 earning bachelor’s degrees, 153 earning master’s degrees, and 167 earning associate degrees. These students come from throughout New Mexico, 34 states, and five nations worldwide.

“Saturday will be an exciting day of celebration. We will celebrate with all our graduates as they receive a university degree,” said James Johnston, ENMU Chancellor. “We will also celebrate the outstanding work of some of our faculty and hear an inspirational message from one of ENMU’s most distinguished alums.”

Additional ceremony highlights include the Faculty Excellence Awards, presented to ENMU faculty for excelling in Advising, Service, and Teaching. The Honor Guard from Cannon Air Force Base will present the colors, and the National Anthem and Alma Mater will be sung by graduating ENMU students.

The ENMU graduation will be live-streamed off the main ENMU website at enmu.edu. For more information on the ENMU commencement ceremonies, please visit enmu.edu/Commencement.
