SANTA FE – Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham has issued two statewide emergency declarations this week that unlocks $1.5 million in state funding to support state agencies responding to the winter storm blanketing much of New Mexico.
"This declaration gives the state more resources to continue supporting local responders as this major snowstorm persists," said Gov. Lujan Grisham. "I thank every single responder who has been out in the cold since Wednesday clearing roads, escorting people to safety, and doing what needs to be done to support New Mexicans challenged by this storm."
LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One office (NMDOT) along with White Sands Missile Range (WSMR) have posted an alert for Friday, November 8, 2024.
US 70 is scheduled to be blocked one time beginning at 6:05 A.M. This block will last approximately one hour, lifting around 7:05 A.M. The block will be located at BLUE Block (2 miles east of the Owen access road, near Mile Marker 172) and YELLOW Block (near White Sands National Park, mile marker 200). San Augustin Pass and Las Cruces gate are NOT affected by this block; however, Nike Avenue will be affected.

SANTA FE, N.M. – The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office today announced an oil and gas lease sale scheduled for Feb. 20, 2025, to offer seven oil and gas parcels totaling 1,317 acres in New Mexico.
The BLM completed scoping on these parcels in June 2024 and held a public comment period that closed in August 2024 on the parcels, potential deferrals, and the related environmental analysis. A 30-day public protest period to receive additional public input opened today and will close Dec. 9, 2024.
The parcels the BLM has analyzed, as well as maps and instructions on how to submit a protest are available on the BLM's ePlanning website at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/eplanning-ui/project/2032203/570.

Albuquerque, NM – November 6, 2024 –– Christmas tree cutting permits for the Magdalena, Mountainair and Mt. Taylor Ranger Districts will go on sale at district offices on Friday, November 8 through Friday, December 27, 2024.
Permits will also be available for online purchase starting November 8th through Recreation.gov for trees, which also lists details about designated cutting areas, maps, dates, and size of trees that may be cut. Information can also be found on the Cibola NF & NG Christmas tree webpage. A small processing fee will be applied to the Recreation.gov online transaction.
Observe New Mexico Elections (ONME) is a nonpartisan observation effort designed to increase trust and transparency in elections. The effort, led by and for New Mexicans, will assess whether statutory electoral procedures are consistently and accurately followed and provide timely, comprehensive public information about the quality of the 2024 general election.
Approximately 170 observers have been deployed to voting locations statewide to observe the voting and counting process. As of 12:30 PM, ONME has gathered reports from observers on the opening and setup processes at 153 voting locations across 29 counties.
