BurnetteHHampton Jerry Burnett, Sr., 85, a resident of Silver City, NM, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at Gila Regional Medical Center. He was born to his parents Leon and Glora (Woosley) Burnette in Conchas, NM.


Jerry was a devoted husband to his wife and best friend, Sally Jane Burnette, with whom he
shared 45 wonderful years of marriage. He was a proud father to his daughters, Cheryl and Dana,
and his son, Jerry Jr. Jerry's family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent
with them.

He worked as an ironworker for over 30 years, showcasing his incredible work ethic and
commitment. Beyond his professional life, Jerry was a man of many talents and interests. He was
an avid golfer for over 35 years, even serving as an Assistant Golf Professional for several years.
His love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting and trapping, which he pursued
for over 30 years.

Jerry was a lifetime old car enthusiast and could often be found in his garage working on his
beloved cars. He was also a skilled gunsmith and reloader for many years. A true sports fan,
Jerry was a lifelong supporter of the Dallas Cowboys. How 'bout them Boys!
Those who knew Jerry will remember him as a great storyteller, always ready with a captivating
tale. He had a unique sense of humor and one of his favorite sayings: "He could piss off the
Pope."

Jerry's legacy of love, hard work, and humor will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his son, Jerry Burnette, Jr(Karen) of Hurley, NM; his daughters, Cheryl Garrett of Alamagordo, NM and Dana Gaffney of Jacksonville, FL; his seven grandchildren, Trey Burnette, Hannah Griffiths (Ryan), Hunter Burnette, Tyler Garrett, Cody Garrett, Jay Gaffney and Krystan Stevens (Josh); his two great-grandchildren, Lili Garrett and Koki Gaffney; his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife; his brother, Larry Burnette.

A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at 11:00am at Terrazas Funeral Chapels with Pastor Joseph Gros officiating.
