Manuela "Nellie" Baca Leyba, went to be with the Lord entering eternal rest on June 24, 2024 at her home surrounded by love and her family. Born February 27, 1921 to Julio and Josefa Baca making her 103 years at the time of her passing. The oldest of 8 siblings, helping her parents raise them and continued throughout her life. She touched many, many lives with her compassion and the urge to help others. No one left without receiving a blessing or a copy of her favorite prayer. Strong in her beliefs, morals and strong in her faith. Her saying was "Good will and a prayer." She was an advocate for the mentally ill, which came about helping to open the first Behavioral Unit at Gila Regional Medical Center. Her saying "First in Mind" She was artistic, a painter, a wonderful cook and baker, and loved to garden. The last tia (aunt) on the Leyba's family. Became a mother/grandmother to so many others Max Madrid, Alfonso Cisneros, Tina McBride, Chris Medina, Jacob Chacon.
Isabel O Madrid, "Charlie" or "Chale" as everyone would call him. Passed away peacefully on June 24 in his home surrounded by his loving family and his beloved wife who never left his side. He was born in Central, New Mexico on August 31, 1949 to Andres and Aurora (Ortega) Madrid the seventh of twelve children. In 1957 his family moved to Lordsburg, New Mexico then to Safford, AZ in 1968. On June 18, 1969 Charlie was drafted to the US Army and also served in Vietnam. After his service he returned home to Little Hollywood Safford, AZ. He always loved Lordsburg so he moved back in 1972 and that's where he met his lifelong beloved partner the love of his life Consuelo and they married on March 8, 1974. And had 6 beautiful children of whom two entered eternal life at young ages. Charlie became a police officer in 1975 and protected the city of Lordsburg and all of Hidalgo County up until his retirement in 1994. Charlie was highly respected by the community and loved by all. Â He was the true meaning of a family man and loved all his grandkids as if they were his own children. Charlie was one of a kind and always loved to tease and joke around you had to have tough skin if you wanted to enjoy a day with him. He enjoyed many of his days fishing and hunting. He impacted all of our hearts and showed us all how to be strong just like him. Dad although you left a hole in all our hearts thank you for loving us unconditionally, we will take care of mom and each other from here. You're pain free singing all your Antonio Aguilar songs while you're fishing in Heaven, we love you God bless you and will see you again someday.
Isabel Ortega Madrid, 74, a resident of Lordsburg, NM, entered eternal rest on Monday, June 24, 2024 at his residence. Â Â He was born August, 31, 1949 to his parents, Andres and Aurora (Ortega) Madrid in Central, NM.Â
He is survived by his loving wife, Consuelo (Villalpando) Madrid; his son, Charles Daniel Madrid (Leah) of Las Cruces, NM; his three daughters, Felicia Araiza (Paul) of Safford, AZ, Veronica Madrid (Michael Haynes) of Lordsburg, NM, Priscilla Mireles (Juan) of McAllen, TX; his four brothers, Joe Ortega of El Paso, TX, Henry Ortega (Rita) of Mesa, AZ, Andy Madrid (Susie) of Azle, TX, Alex Madrid (Margie) of Safford, AZ; his three sisters, Nellie Arredondo (Joe) of Albuquerque, NM, Margie Salcido (Jesse) of Tucson, AZ, Sylvia Ortiz (Gerardo) of Tucson, AZ; his fourteen grandchildren, Daniel, Noah, Jeremy, Serenity, Esaias, Anthony, Brittany, Isabella, Phillip, Keanna, Michael, Azaryah, David and Heaven; his two great-grandchildren; his numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Anthony Joe Madrid; his daughter Rosanna Marie Madrid; his brother, Fred Madrid; his sisters, Consuelo Lechuga, Lydia Martin, Rachel Borseth; his sister-in-law, Sherry Ortega; and his grandson, Charles Daniel Madrid, Jr.

She is survived by her three sons, David Leyba (Linda) of Las Vegas, NV, Joaquin Leyba (Sylvia) of Tucson, AZ, and Max Madrid of California; her two daughters, Cecilia Garcia (Alfredo) of Albuquerque, NM and Julie Medina of Silver City, NM; her two sisters, Maria Chavez of Silver City, NM and Esperanza Silva of Silver City, NM; her nine grandchildren; her numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Magdaleno Hernandez Leyba, Jr.; her four brothers, Tomas Baca, Julian Baca, Alberto Baca, Ben Baca; her two sisters, Frances "Kika" Orosco and Josie Madrid.
Penny Eugenia Weatherford, 60, resident of Deming passed away Wednesday June 19, 2024 at Mt. View Regional Medical Center in Las Cruces. Arrangements are pending.

Juana nació el 8 de febrero de 1929 en Janos, Chihuahua, hija de MarÃa de Jesús GarcÃa y Emilo Tarango. Le encantaba trabajar en su jardÃn, coser, leer, escuchar música, bailar y pasar tiempo con su familia.
A Juana le sobreviven sus hijos: Alvaro (Rafaela) Leyva, Fernando (Teresa) Leyva, Alfonso Leyva (Alpha Duran), Elias (Mary Jo) Leyva, Eraclio (Adela) Leyva y Ramona Alicia Ramirez, 23 nietos y numerosos bisnietos; un hermano, Leopoldo Tarango (Ramona Juarez).
