John Neal "Butch" Wallace
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, grandpa, uncle, and friend Butch Wallace of Cliff, NM. He was received by our Good Lord on Sunday, January 12, 2025. Butch was a very caring and ornery man that was loved and respected by his community. His mischievous sparkle in his eyes left everyone wondering what was next, and heart of gold that all will remember. Butch will be greatly missed. He had a resolute belief in Jesus Christ as our savior and although we grieve, we are assured that he is with our Lord. "And we are not afraid but are quite gratified to die for then we will be at home with the Lord." (II Corinthians 5:8)
He was born to Robert "Bob" and Ruby Wallace in Silver City, NM on August 25,1938. He passed away peacefully at home in Cliff, NM at the age of 86 years old. He is survived by his seven children, oodles of grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents Bob and Ruby Wallace, sister Willie Rae Stailey, and granddaughter Katelynn Munsell.
Alfredo "Fred" Gutierrez Martinez, 93, an Army Veteran and resident of Santa Clara, NM entered eternal rest on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at Fort Bayard Medical Center in Santa Clara, NM.
Fred passed away peacefully after a life marked by dedication to his faith, family, service and hard work. Born in Duncan, Arizona on May 28, 1931 to his parents, Raphael and Flora (Gutierrez) Martinez, he later made his home in Santa Rita where he proudly served his country for two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
On February 19, 1955, Fred married the love of his life, Tina, beginning a beautiful partnership that would span nearly seven decades. Their enduring union was a testament to their deep devotion and commitment to one another.
Fred built his career in the grocery industry, starting at the Santa Rita Store before spending 42 years as a floor manager at Bailey's grocery store. His strong work ethic and dedication to customer service were hallmarks of his professional life. Following his retirement, Fred found joy in tending to his yard and garden, creating a beautiful, outdoor sanctuary for his family to enjoy.
