Statewide, NM- The New Mexico State Police is highlighting what 2024 has shown to date and rolling out some goals for 2025.
One of those goals is to improve recruitment and retention. A new docuseries called "Forging the Future" follows New Mexico State Police recruits as they progress through the academy and documents their journey to becoming a New Mexico State Police Officer.
SANTA FE – Today, New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) Secretary Patrick Allen announced he has named LeAnn Behrens to the position of Deputy Secretary.
Behrens started at NMHealth in April of this year as the department's Director of Operations. In this role, she has been deeply engaged in the implementation of the enterprise performance management system focusing on hiring processes, operational performance and the development of health programs to drive improved health among New Mexicans.

SANTA FE – Falls are the leading cause of injury-related deaths, hospitalizations and emergency department visits for New Mexicans 65 years and older.
More than 17% of New Mexicans are 65 years or older. By 2030 New Mexico is projected to rank 4th in the nation in the percentage of population aged 65 or older. Falls Prevention Awareness Week, September 23-27, is a time to take proactive steps either for yourself or your elderly family members to prevent falls.

A survey of 170 NM candidates running for state Senate and House as well as US Congress in the 2024 general election shows substantial support for democracy reform measures. The candidate survey was conducted during the summer by a coalition of four pro-democracy non-profits—Common Cause NM, Fair Districts NM, NM First and NM Open Elections. The survey questions were sent via email to 170 candidates with follow-up asking candidates to respond. Thirty-seven (37) of the 170 candidates responded to the survey questions, a 21% response rate.

The North Star Award honors professionals who have made significant impacts in their careers, serving as guiding lights for others and advancing the field of energy efficiency in profound ways.
Partnership prepares high school students for future in electric utility industry
(Albuquerque, NM) – PNM is partnering and providing funding to create a pathway for high school students to pursue rewarding careers in the electric utility industry, to develop the high-skilled energy workforce of tomorrow.
The PNM Power Pros program is a partnership with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 611 and high schools around New Mexico to train students to become electric utility trade professionals.
PNM has provided $1 million to ensure the program's success in three schools this year, with plans to expand to more New Mexico high schools next year.
