First Judicial District Court Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer today issued an order denying a motion by the defense to dismiss the indictment in State v. Alexander Rae Baldwin, D-101-CR-2024-00013. The order is attached.

SANTA FE, NM – Since April 1 there have been at least 51 heat-related visits to emergency departments across New Mexico. As temperatures are expected to climb to the mid to upper 90s in Roswell and Carlsbad and remain in the low 90s in Las Cruces this week, the New Mexico Department of Health (NMHealth) is urging residents to take precautions to stay cool. The eastern part of the state will also experience high temperatures, reaching the upper 80s to 90°.

The New Mexico Forestry Division would like to update you on two wildfires that are requiring the attention of federal, state, and local resources in New Mexico.
The Blue 2 and Indios fires are burning on public lands and are being managed by the US Forest Service. Resources are currently responding to these incidents and are adding additional crews to be prepared for hot temperatures and high winds in both locations over the weekend.
Keeping in mind this high potential for wildfire through Memorial Day, the Forestry Division would like to remind everyone to be safe and aware of their surroundings this holiday weekend.

MAY 23—Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a resolution by a vote of 262-143 to repeal The Local Resident Voting Rights Amendment Act of 2022, which controversially allowed non-U.S. citizens including illegal immigrants, to vote for local public offices in the District of Columbia.
Democratic New Mexico Representatives Gabe Vasquez and Teresa Leger Fernandez shamelessly voted against the resolution, adding to their extreme, open-border voting record.
