$15.1 Million roadway rehabilitation project on US 70 West of Las Cruces

LAS CRUCES - The New Mexico Department of Transportation District One office in cooperation with Mesa Verde Enterprises, Inc. (Contractor) is excited to announce the $15.1M upcoming roadway rehabilitation project on US 70 from Del Rey Blvd. (milepost 150.95) to Nasa Rd. (milepost 161.43) just east of Las Cruces, NM.
Albuquerque, N.M. – As part of Operation Engage, DEA is hosting its fourth annual Citizen's Academy this coming May and is now accepting applications. The deadline to submit an application is Tuesday April 30 at 11:59 p.m.
The DEA Citizens Academy allows community leaders to gain an understanding of DEA's mission and community awareness of the law enforcement and drug demand reduction efforts. Six 3-hour sessions will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. on May 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, and 23. Planned course topics include an overview of DEA operations, a region-specific intelligence briefing, DEA laboratory operations, DEA air fleet operations, investigative trends, prescription drug diversion and abuse, warrant execution, law enforcement partnerships, demand reduction efforts, and Operation Engage.Â

ECECD seeks input from families and key stakeholders on FOCUS redesignÂ
SANTA FE – Today, the New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD) opened a new survey to gather input from New Mexico families, child care centers, family child care homes, and child care teachers regarding a planned multi-year effort to update and redesign FOCUS, the state's Quality Rating and Improvement System (QRIS). The redesign is part of an $18 million investment that Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham secured during the 2024 legislative session to improve the quality of early education and care in New Mexico.

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies, and U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) introduced the Office of Colonias and Farmworker Initiatives Establishment Act to ensure that the Department of Agriculture and other federal agencies directly address the needs of farmworkers and colonias communities. Â
Colonias are unincorporated communities within 150 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border that lack basic infrastructure such as safe drinking water, wastewater systems, and adequate housing. Recent studies estimate 2,459 colonias exist across New Mexico, Arizona, California, and Texas. In New Mexico, there are 150 colonias.Â

WASHINGTON — U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) sent a letter urging the Biden administration to adopt rules that facilitate smooth implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act's (IRA) prevailing wage and registered apprenticeship tax credits. Â

The Nusenda Professional Headshot Booth is open to NMSU students, faculty, staff and visitors to campus throughout the year. It became operational in January and is located in Corbett Center Student Union, second floor, across from Pete's Place computer lab.Â
LAS CRUCES – The New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Division (NMDOT TSD) and Safer New Mexico Now will host an in-person Car Seat Fitting Station from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at the Sisbarro Buick-GMC, 425 West Boutz Road in Las Cruces. This free educational event provides parents and caregivers instruction on the proper selection, installation, and use of their car seats from nationally certified child passenger safety technicians.
