City of Rocks State Park and Rockhound State Park in conjunction with the Astronomy Friends of The Parks announce the '24 fall/winter and '25 Spring astronomy program schedule.
Weather permitting, about 45 minutes after sunset, a laser guided tour is given on the highlights of that evening sky. Followed by visual observations with telescopes with assistance from members of the park friends, lasting approximately 2 hours. Please try to arrive around sunset to 15 minutes after sunset to become familiar with the program layout. Chairs are limited, so if not an inconvenience, bring your own would-be good advice. When the planets are out, we can view them until it is dark enough to begin the presentation.

Caller advised a female was yelling near the intersection/she has a severely injured dog with her. Officer out with Dawn Murphy/clear locally/all units in service/everything is okay.

Solace in Nature, an international exhibition juried by Christina Z Anderson, includes work by 27 artists from across the globe.

Silver City artist, Kathleen Koopman, works with found material and the light sensitive process of cyanotype. All the materials and images in this exhibit were found in wild places, some known, and some will remain a mystery. Plants, natural materials, found photographs, objects, detritus, parts of cars, stoves, bicycles, rust all around!

Joanne DeMichele and Holly Noonan met at a public hearing on affordable housing. They quickly realized that they have similar concerns and solutions.
Separately and together, they pursue alternative, sustainable, healthy, equitable, and people-focused solutions to preserve and expand housing, health, and community living.
Community Land Trusts and Resident Owned Cooperatives are both shared equity models of land ownership that empower the community to come together to gain the benefits of land ownership and take on the responsibilities of ecological stewardship.
