Successfully completing RAP in 2024
SANTA FE, NM New Mexico Counties recognized six counties with a 2024 Risk Awareness Program (RAP) Award during the 2024 New Mexico Counties 87th Annual Conference on June 19, 2024, in Las Vegas, NM. The RAP is a workplace risk control educational program that aims to reduce the frequency and severity of county claims through better risk awareness and safety practices. Twenty two counties currently participate in the RAP.

New Mexico Counties Board of Directors Elect New Officers, Executive Committee District Representatives
SANTA FE, NM During the New Mexico Counties Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, June 20, 2024, held during the New Mexico Counties 87th Annual Conference in Las Vegas, San Miguel County, the Board elected new leadership. They assumed their responsibilities upon adjournment of the Board meeting and annual conference.
The new officers of New Mexico Counties are President Curry County Clerk Annie Hogland, President Elect San Juan County Commissioner Terri Fortner, Vice President Roosevelt County Commissioner Tina Dixon, and Past President Eddy County Sheriff Mark Cage. Each officer will serve a one-year term. These individuals were chosen by their peer elected officials as ideal candidates to represent all 33 counties in New Mexico.
In all construction zones, motorists are asked to reduce speed, obey posted signs, and use extreme caution, as well as continue to be cautious of heavy equipment and construction personnel in the area. PLEASE NOTE: Conditions are subject to change without notice. Double fines for speeding in work zones may be in effect.

SANTA FE – A total of 630 deer licenses left over from the 2024-2025 big-game draw will go on sale at 10 a.m. MDT June 26, through the Department's Online License System. This first-come, first-served sale will only be open to New Mexico residents during the first 24 hours. If any licenses remain after the first 24 hours, the sale will be opened to nonresidents at 10 a.m. June 27.
CORRECTION for youth hunters: Purchasing a leftover license WILL NOT render youth hunters ineligible to purchase a youth encouragement elk license for the first 14 days of the upcoming sale in July.
SANTA FE Today, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed executive orders authorizing the release of $5.25 million in additional emergency funds for the Department of Homeland Security Management to support relief efforts for the ongoing South Fork and Salt fires in Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation.
"In the face of such a disaster, it is imperative that we act swiftly," said Gov. Lujan Grisham. "Although there is still a long road to full recovery ahead, these emergency funds will help stabilize these communities and provide much-needed assistance to those in need."

SANTA FE, N.M. The Bureau of Land Management New Mexico State Office held a competitive oil and gas lease sale, offering 19 parcels covering 3,128 acres in New Mexico and Kansas. In total, 451 bids were received, with 14 parcels covering 2,768 acres leased, roughly 88.5 percent of the total acreage available. A total of $34,414,251 in high bids were received.
