Rogelio Carreon Renteria, de 76 años, residente de Columbus, falleció el lunes 3 de junio de 2024 en la residencia de su hijo en Deming.
La visitacion se llevará a cabo el jueves 6 de junio de 2024 a las 4 de la tarde en la Funeraria Baca's. El Rosario a las 6 de la tarde. Y despues será trasladado a Palomas el viernes por la tarde, donde está previsto que se lleve a cabo el velorio.  La Misa de cuerpo presente sera el sábado 8 de junio de 2024 a las 3 de la tarde en la Iglesia Católica Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Y el entierro en el Cementerio Municipal inmediatamente después de la misa.
Rogelio nació el 6 de julio de 1947 en Ascensión, Chihuahua, hijo de Consuelo RenterÃa y Vicente Carreón. A Rogelio o Cucú, como le llamaban sus nietos, le gustaba pasar tiempo con sus amigos y familiares. Le gustaba llevar a sus nietos a la tienda para comprar papitas, jugar a las cartas o al dominó con su esposa y su nieta, disfrutar de una buena carne asada con la familia y pasar tiempo paseandose por su querido pueblo de Palomas.Â
Judy Ann Count of Silver City NM passed away peacefully at her home on May 31, 2024.
Judy was born October 12, 1944 to Merle and Agnes (Foote) Count. Judy retired in 2010 from Gila Regional Medical Center working as a radiologist. She enjoyed her pets, working, fishing and playing Bingo. Judy was a member of Crosspoint Church in Silver City.
Judy is survived by her sisters, Jean Count Cook Leak of Freeport and Janet Count Erb Wheelock of Savanah. Also surviving her are several nieces, nephews and cousins. Judy was preceded in death by two infant children, Jane Marie and Travis Merle; her parents, Merle and Agnes Count; and two brothers, Lyle Count and Richard Count.Â
As per Judy's wishes, there will be no funeral services. Cremation will take place and inurnment will be in Clarksville, Michigan at a later date.

MarÃa de la Luz Guerra de Monge, de 81 años, residente de Columbus, falleció el jueves 30 de mayo de 2024 en su casa.
El velatorio se llevará a cabo en el Centro de Aprendizaje de Columbus a partir del viernes 7 de junio de 2024 a las 5 de la tarde. Misa de cuerpo presente en la Misión Católica Sagrada Familia el sábado 8 de junio de 2024. El entierro se llevará a cabo en el cementerio de Alturas del Valle con el padre Rubén Romero como oficiante.
MarÃa nació el 30 de septiembre de 1942 en Santa Ana, Chihuahua, México, hija de Encarnación RodrÃguez e Ignacio Guerra. Se mudó a Columbus en el año 2002 proveniente de Palomas, fue miembro de la iglesia católica y del Apostolado del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús. A MarÃa le encantaba cantar, bailar y escuchar música. Pero una de las cosas que más disfrutaba era pasar tiempo con su familia.Â
Le sobreviven sus hijos; Rosalio Monge Guerra, Flor (Eduardo) Jiménez y Lupita Monge Guerra; su hermano, Tiburcio Guerra (Eustolia Olivas); 3 nietos y numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas.
Pedro Herrera, de 71 años, residente de Columbus, falleció el jueves 30 de mayo de 2024 en el Centro Médico Regional Mountain View en Las Cruces.
Será trasladado a Puerto Palomas, Chihuahua el jueves 6 de junio de 2024 durante el dÃa y estará en la Iglesia PrÃncipe de Paz para regresar a Columbus a las 5 de la tarde donde sera velado en el Learning Center de Columbus. Un servicio funerario se llevará a cabo el viernes 7 de junio de 2024 a las 11 de la mañana en el Learning Center de Columbus con el pastor René Amaya dirigiendo. El entierro seguirá en el cementerio de Valley Heights.
Pedro nació el 15 de octubre de 1952 en Parral, Chihuahua, México, hijo de Gerónima Longoria y Rufino Herrera. Llegó a Columbus hace 20 años procedente de Puerto Palomas, le gustaba jugar a las cartas, ir a cazar, pescar y era muy buen cocinero. Le encantaba pasar tiempo con su familia.Â
Le sobreviven su esposa de 43 años Margarita Herrera, hijos; Pedro Herrera Jr. (Eva Gutiérrez), Luis Miguel Herrera (Abigail Campos) y Pedro Herrera, hijas; Bertha Alicia Herrera, Verónica Herrera (Juan Carlos Amaya), Guadalupe Aguayo (Noé EnrÃquez) y Trinidad Ivon Campos, hermanos; Alonso, Raúl, Liliana, Esther y Josefina Herrera.

Castillo, Pascual, 90, an Army Veteran and resident of San Lorenzo, NM, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 31, 2024 at Gila Regional Medical Center in Silver City. Â He was born on May 17, 1934 to his parents, Luis Gonzales and Socorro (Rodriguez) Castillo in Sherman, NM.Â
Pascual "Guero" Castillo was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War. After his enlistment, he worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at the Kennecott/Phelps Dodge Copper Mine in Santa Rita until his retirement. He had a passion for hunting, fishing, and camping, and loved to share his adventures through countless stories. Guero was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who meant the world to his family. Just as he was proud of each of them, they are all proud to have had him as their patriarch. Known for his friendly and outgoing nature, Guero had a smile that could brighten up a room and practically knew everyone in Grant County, always ready for a conversation. He would help anyone in need without question and had a significant impact on every person whose life he touched. Guero's memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
Russell Leon Valencia, 82, a resident of Silver City, NM, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, NM.Â

Daniel (Danny) Ray AKA "The Jerky Man" Molina, 60, a resident of Deming, NM, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024 in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones. Â He was born September 17, 1963, in Silver City, New Mexico to Betty Molina.
Danny started his career as an iron worker/pipe welder. He later started a well, known beef jerky business in the area. Danny enjoyed his business as it afforded him the opportunity to travel and meet many new people. He made friends everywhere he went. He was the life of the party and everyone he met had a story to tell about him, both good and bad. Danny enjoyed camping, fishing, and a good party at the lake. His other hobbies included gardening, carpentry projects, and long desert walks. He enjoyed cookouts with family, carne asada on the disco, and huge bonfires along with a nice cold Chelada. He loved to dance to Tejano music and loved to listen to a wide variety of music such as Classic Rock, Motown, Fleetwood Mac, and Jimmy Gonzales. He tore up the dance floor in his Levi's and boots. Danny accomplished his life-long goal of owning a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed cruising on his bike and is now riding on the streets of Gold in Heaven.
