Dear Friends,
As we enter another Give Grandly season, I am very grateful for our community of nonprofits. Grant County's distinction as the New Mexico county with the highest number of nonprofits is a testament to our creative, community minded, positive change oriented, corner of the world.
During this time of giving in our community, please consider supporting the Silver City MainStreet Project. Always busy, we are preparing for a Great Blocks infrastructure project and making infrastructure improvements at the Silco Theater. We are continuing to offer new programming at the Silco, managing the Visitor Center, and promoting new and existing downtown businesses. It is thanks to the support of community members like you that we are able to do this work!
This Friday, May 3rd, at 5pm we are dedicating the mural "Silver City...a cool place to be" at the corner of Bullard and Broadway.
Come join us!
Karen Carr was our lead facilitating artist, Jess DeMoss and Erika Burleigh assisted in facilitating the project. We had a dedicated crew of kids as well as the YCC Aldo mural crew working on it. A big thank you to the Town of Silver City!
Dear Friends and Family,
As many of you know, I have put so much effort into the Future Forge Community Makerspace, here in Grant County, New Mexico. Since I co-founded it in 2020, I have served as the Chairman and Executive Director. We are now fortunate enough to have our own educational facilities, give our community access to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of state-of-the-art equipment, and support 6 staff members and their livelihoods. We could not have done it without all the community support for our educational space!Â

The first jolt of primary season comes a month before the election. State Sen. Siah Correa Hemphill is ending her candidacy for a second term.
"I am not going to be running in the general election," she told me in a phone call. "I will withdraw on June 5, the day after the primary."
She is the only Democratic candidate on the primary ballot in Senate District 28, stretching across the southwestern section of the state.
Correa Hemphill, D-Silver City, said she has employment opportunities as a school psychologist, and she has to pursue them in the interest of financial stability for her family.
