July 21, at 10:00 am, 3845 North Swan Street – "Love, Not Legalism"
Rev. Bob LaVallee of the First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque will talk about the history and context of covenants.
"We are a covenantal faith but what does that even mean? The typical Unitarian Universalist church has a covenant that has great aspirations but very little on specifics. How do we know when we're out of covenant? How do we return to covenant?" LaVallee said.
Rev. Bob LaVallee serves as Associate Minister at First Unitarian Church of Albuquerque. Prior to parish ministry, he worked as a chaplain in ER, ICU, and hospice settings, including at the VA Hospital in New York City. In these bewildering times, Rev. LaVallee believes that our congregations can be a source of refuge and resilience, especially for the most vulnerable among us.
QUEMADO, NM, July 13, 2024 – The Lolo Fire remains at 438 acres with 60% containment. The primary fire activity is concentrated on the northwest side where crews have been constructing hand line and will continue to scout and assess additional roads for future control lines. The southern perimeter is under patrol and monitor status as that section of the fire has shown minimal fire activity.
There is about a 40% chance of storms expected in the afternoon with mostly clear skies in the morning. Scattered showers with isolated thunderstorms are anticipated Sunday afternoon. Fire resources will be ready to respond to any new starts.
